1977. Les deux sondes Voyager sont lancées dans l’espace. Chacune transporte symboliquement un disque comportant un message visant à représenter l’humanité. Il contient images, musiques et schémas, adressés à une hypothétique forme de vie intelligente. Afin de revenir sur l’histoire de la célèbre mission spatiale qui conjugue subtilement arts et sciences, le planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan de Montréal a commandé à Err is Human, dans le cadre d’un programme spécial, un projet artistique comprenant notamment la composition de 4 pièces musicales composées au moyen de la distance interpolée des sondes avec la Terre, mais aussi des mesures de la pollution atmosphériques à proximité des sites industriels pétrochimiques de l’est de Montréal. Le projet suggère, qu’à mesure que la Terre disparait dans l’œil des sondes Voyager, les conditions de subsistances pour les êtres vivants sur la planète sont de plus en plus précaires.

1977. The two Voyager probes are launched into space. Each one symbolically carries a disc with a message intended to represent humanity. It contains images, music and diagrams, addressed to a hypothetical form of intelligent life. In order to revisit the history of the famous space mission that subtly combines arts and sciences, the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium in Montreal has commissioned Err is Human for a special program that includes the composition of 4 musical pieces based on the interpolated distance of the probes from the Earth, as well as measurements of atmospheric pollution in the vicinity of petrochemical industrial sites in the east end of Montreal. The project suggests that, as the Earth disappears into the Voyager probes' eye, the subsistence conditions for living beings on the planet are increasingly precarious.
